Roadmaster for Council Leaders

For elected officials & municipal leaders

The problem on your doorstep.

Every spring the calls start — potholes on the radio, damage claims, the local press. You’re held responsible for a network underfunded for decades and a maintenance approach that hasn’t kept up.

What changes with Roadmaster

The backlog gets cleared — and stays cleared. The Roadmaster is a fast, cost-effective way to clear a reactive pothole backlog — fixing roads once, properly, for a fifth of the cost of traditional methods. As the backlog clears, it transitions naturally into preventative mode, treating surfaces before potholes form. Constituents stop calling about the same roads every spring.

The budget goes further — year after year. Preventative maintenance is cheaper than reactive repair, and the more coverage grows, the cheaper each subsequent year becomes. Councils that commit to this approach consistently report their maintenance cost per mile falling over time.

Potholes stop forming. A prevented pothole never makes the morning news, never generates a compensation claim, never becomes a constituent complaint. That’s the political value of preventative maintenance — it removes the problem before it becomes visible.

It’s a story worth telling. One operator, one machine, under three minutes, 80% less carbon, five times cheaper — a genuine innovation story, and the kind worth a photograph in front of a bright yellow machine.

This is the way forward for progressive councils and managers. They need to see past the initial outlay and consider the long-term ROI and carbon savings.

— John Tobin, Plant Stores Superintendent, Cork County Council (18 machines, 12 years)

The market right now

The timing is right: £1.6 billion has been allocated to councils for road maintenance in 2026, set against more than 26,000 pothole-related breakdowns recorded in 2025 — up around 15% on the year. For scale, roughly £100,000 of pothole budget covers about 14,000 repairs with Roadmaster, versus around 2,800 the traditional way.
